Logan, Utah - Effectively promoting Cache Valley throughout the Wasatch Front depends largely on creating a visual language through which to communicate the valley's diversity, according to the valley's new branding campaign.
Developed by Digital Slant Marketing Design, the campaign will serve to answer two primary questions about the valley while reflecting the diverse culture and opportunity for tourism in the valley.
"The Cache Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau needs to answer two questions in marketing Cache Valley," said Cami Boehme, president of Digital Slant. "Where is Cache Valley and Why should I go there."
The first question will be answered by the visual setup of the logo -- an icon representing Utah and specifically highlighting the Northeast corner as the location of Cache Valley. Answering why tourists should visit the area will be accomplished through travel guides, ad campaigns and an informative Web site, Boehme said.
"The solution is perfect in its simplicity," Boehme said. "A brand like this needs to be communicated immediately in one glance."
Cache Valley is known for several diverse reasons including relaxation, outdoor recreation, cultural heritage, adventure, shopping, education and more. Reflecting this diversity is possible through a versatile branding campaign, which will communicate all the reasons to come to Cache Valley.
Cache Valley CVB is excited for the opportunity to market the valley under the new brand, according to Maridene Hancock, director of the Visitors' Bureau.
"The name Cache Valley already promotes positive ideals. The answer has been right in front of us for a long time," Hancock said. "We're just excited to have a consistent image to use in all our materials."
The new brand will help the Visitors Bureau communicate the virtues of the valley to tourists.
"We are excited to have a new campaign to let people know about the valley and all it has to offer," Hancock said.
Digital Slant is excited for the opportunity to use its branding expertise to further the development of Cache Valley Marketing, Boehme said. The campaign provides a unique opportunity to position Cache Valley as a high class and diverse tourism destination.
Several supporting taglines are included as part of the campaign. The purpose of the taglines will be to support a particular ad or media application. The main "push" in the logo is Logan, Utah to show people the location of the valley. The taglines will be used as a support in marketing the valley. These include, "Relax in Our Playground" "Live More" and "Satisfy Your Life."
"Using a single tagline is limiting the advertising opportunities and communication of the brand," Boehme said. "By providing a variety of taglines we can appeal to a larger audience without alienating diverse visitors. The ad campaign we are developing will use activity based pictures and use the tagline "Live More" while the travel guide will invite readers to "Relax in Our Playground."
"Digital Slant is committed to bringing together technology and communications to create a strategy for the valley to represent itself," Boehme said. Plans for brand implementation include a magazine advertising campaign, an updated, database enabled Web site with complete tourism information and helpful features for visitors, a new travel guide incorporating several existing brochure and promotional materials and assets for use at travel shows. Together, these assets will be equity for the Visitors Bureau and help communicate the brand promise to tourists.
